in the tub, blowing bubbles, "i can't believe the bubbles with my eyes!"
in the tub yesterday, "i can blow bubbles with my bum." and then she did. she is so talented!

during a pause in normal lunch conversing, "my milk said something." then, just as i was thinking she was hearing things, "my milk made a sound." she's so smart :)

today, i took her to the doctor for an ear infection check. she does have one, but it's not very big so we're going to wait on antibiotics for a couple days to see if it takes care of itself. while at the doctor's office she played with a toy kit with a stethoscope, blood pressure taker (does that thing have a name?), and a pretty cool plastic box of plastic band aids shaped like a slip on bracelet an adult might wear, which made it easy for her to put on. we put them on her doll juju who i brought along to get checked for being sick so zoey would feel comfortable, and not yell in protest while shaking her head as i held her sweaty head still. poor thing. she was miserable to me and to nurse, doctor, people in the waiting room, and she isn't even terribly sick. perhaps she's like me, a little pain makes a big pain in the ass person. anyway, we accidentally stole the band aids which were on juju's knees under her pants! so after a much needed 2.5 hour nap, with a terrible 45 minute crying fit afterwards because daddy, not mommy, was here, she started playing the band aids and juju again.
then she said, "look it's my vagina." as she put the bandage on her ankle. then, while i was wondering if eric heard and trying not to laugh, she said again, "look, it's on my vagina daddy." oh my.
knowing it's not pertinent to laugh at a kid using a word like vagina or penis, we tried to hide our laughter as we wondered what she was thinking. she knows she has a bum, and privates...which i, for the first time i believe, referred to with correct terminology yesterday when i was telling her why we had to wipe her off when changing her diaper. also, i believe we never have talked about ankles until today, so i think that's where the confusion happened.
i'm pretty certain she didn't see/hear us laughing, but later she sang a song, "my vagina, my vagina, my vagina" all sing-songy. it's such juvenile humor, but impossible for us not to laugh (in secret) at. even later in the day, she was playing with the band aids on her ankle again and said, "i' put it on my vagikle" oh boy....
