zoey is now twenty months old, which is so close to 2! yes, it's unbelievable to me. today, for the first time, she said "no" emphatically and with complete defiance. she didn't just know what she wanted, she knew she was telling me what she wanted, or didn't want, which was to sit down on the chair at the kitchen table. she climbs onto them and stands a lot now, and eric and i always enforce sitting down, or standing on her stool, or sitting in her chair, but so much of the time i just want to say, "go for it!" and watch her climb all over the table, and just be monkeys together or something...but then i remember she'll fall and hurt herself, so i keep pushing, repeating, "zoey sit down please...or i'll take you off the chair, or you can stand on your stool, or you can sit in your seat, do you want to play with your_____?!?!?!" i talk so much now. i talk to her as i shop for groceries, drive the car, go to the bathroom (while she stand outside the door whining, "mommy. mommy. mommy. mommy."), change her diaper, make dinner, get dressed...and out in public i think people always wonder if i'm talking to them, or myself. most of the time, it's to teach her, but a lot of the time, it's to distract her so i can find the right soy milk, or choose my favorite yarn to make a dishcloth out of...and at the end of the day, i'm exhausted from going on and on. i don't mind though, most of the time.
