christmas 2011

um

God give us strength to handle her 4 1/2 year oldness. apparently zoey was sick all last week because she was transforming into .... i don't even know what. She's still sweet underneath. when I tripped in a hole on the playground, she rushed to help me and hug me. i go over reasons in my head...missing school for a week, missing trick-or-treating *although she didn't care, and doesn't care now*, getting two new pets *sweet guinea pigs yoko and freddy, both girls*, two really big, fun birthday parties in one weekend, or maybe whatever dr. jekyll used has been planted in our drinking water. honestly, these last two days might have been the moodiest days EVER. it's hard to explain the sheer mental exhaustion and anxiety surrounding her highness. EVERY LITTLE THING!!!!!! is an issue. brushing teeth is a circus, going potty is not even discussed anymore cause she holds it for over an hour if i say anything about it, and even if i don't. she's been screaming and fussing when she want's something, it's like regression to babyhood here! she's never been one to scream and cry this much...just when i thought i knew a little bit about parenting...my brain hurts and my heart is so tired.

our sweet zoeybird has had a fever since last night...but is a trooper. she's probably feeling okay because she gets to watch lots of television...and daddy stayed home with her, so that's a treat in itself. i fretted all day (and imagine eric might have too) about probably having to tell her she couldn't go trick-or-treating. i was a nervous wreck, it is almost comical in retrospect. she handled it so well, and sat in the window, wearing her pumpkin costume, with her glowstick, waving to the kids in costume. i'm glad we have a house with big front windows! i'm a little nervous that she'll come out of her fever tomorrow, and want to go trick-or-treating then, and we will have to face her wrath...which is quite something not that she is a big four-year-old. so far we've gotten about 40 kids!
