a busy saturday ago

romeo had a harry potter birthday party. zoey did not wear proper young wizard apparel, and received a loaner costume. she loved playing with all the big 1st graders. she got so excited when it was time to go out and sled that she actually talked to two strangers! two moms who she had never met!

and then...we went to disney on ice! not usually my thing, but zoey was quite happy and i enjoyed the skating as well.

these guys were part of the "it's a small world" act. zoey pointed them out in a very large crowd of small world representatives and out of the blue said, "they must be american, because american's don't wear shirts" what!?!?

when we saw the lions on you tube (when i showed her a bit of the skit before we went to the show) zoey asked, "are those real lions?" heehee

Welcome 2012

it's 2012. zoey is 4.5 years old, and i hope normal. not too normal though. but i worry about her explosive outbursts when she doesn't get what she wants, and about her cautious nature...and.andandand. in fact, i heard of a book called "the explosive child" and thought, that's exactly what i feel has been her characteristic lately. explosive. this age is fun because of her ability to do a lot of things like play games, help out when needed, and funny and cool and smart things she comes up with in her little head.

a wonderful cowgirl, poodleskirt, high healed gloved tiaraed outfit from mimi. this is zoey doing what a cowgirl does. (apparently she saw this pose in a book a preschool).
i think she looks like a russian square dancer experiencing an identity crisis.

speaking of confused...

i hate waking her up during naps, but she was up an extra half hour in bed that night for sleeping a half hour in the car. poor sweet pea.

a lovely find in the crawl space from my darling husband. it's got a small rectangular "flower pot area?" in the back.

and today, zoey made an art gallery.

then we went sledding.

she insists on going fast and by herself so she must wear the helmet!

happy new year

it all started with a phone call, snack, wipes, clothing and camera packing, and meeting at the bottom of the trail. then there was glove putting on, glove switching, snack getting, walking stick gathering, walking stick sizing, a few feet up the trail and a stop for a poop in the woods. then a few more feet and a stop for a peepee accident clothing change. a lot of running happened, more snacking in the big field. a snow shoe hare, already turned white, poor thing, was spotted by the dads. a lone woman came hiking and zoey felt the need to hold/hug sophia as her own. then the walk back down, more snacks, another poop in the woods, slightly south of the previous one. some shaking of the gate at the bottom of the trail released three flying squirrels! they are nocturnal. we took many pictures, then went home for lunch.

on new years day we took a walk in weeks woods

before starting we had to put on coats, gloves, hats, cameras...
