some more

i might have to start an ongoing log of things zoey says...

eric just went in the bedroom and asked zoey what she wanted to do after he changed her diaper. she said, "let's risk it, daddy desoto!"

to explain, we have a book and tape from the library called Dr. Desoto about a mouse dentist, who has an assistant who is also his wife. at one point they discuss whether they should let the fox inside or not, and the wife says, "let's risk it"....zoey is hilarious to us.

she says again

zoey came out of the bedroom with some large plastic rectangle glasses frames on and eric said, "zoey? are you a professor?" and zoey paused for a few seconds saying nothing then said, "no daddy. i'm a woman"
...what the heck?!we're trying to teach zoey to use her inside voice and say excuse me when we're talking if she needs to interject, which she always does. i reminded her to say excuse me tonight while we were talking at the dinner table and zoey said, "um, excuse me" we said, "yes?" and with great enthusiasm she said, "YUMMY!"i said, "zoey. you're so silly"
zoey said, "speaking of silly mommy, i want to open a present of a daddy present for my birthday"

still here

since we have no car, i've re-discovered other more summery modes of transporting the kid

snowflakes from her first birthday party

a tea party with real tea and cupcakes...she reminded me to put my pinkie up, and was hilarious to watch as she tried to lift the cup and extend her pinkie finger at the same time.

and we've gone a little nutty

and a little modeling

she has expanded her taste to include pickles...for breakfast....with waffles

we get away on the weekends and hate to come home. zoey has taken to saying, "i want to stay in the car!" whenever we get home. a wonderful trip to lisa's this was. she made us cookies and played the accordion!

building a tower with sweet violet at the retreat. they had the best times playing together.

at the retreat, zoey also built me (pink blob), eric(green blob), and henry(orange) out of playdoh.

and in case you missed the sick phase...

thank God for this guy...now if he could just find us a car!

january has been a wonderful and hard month for us. eric's car died, then was fixed, then was crashed...zoey and i rely on our daily outings to stay sane and not bored. i really love staying home with her, not having to go to an office every day, getting to play with her, but we both get stir crazy when we have to stay home, and sometimes inside all the time. we have learned the city bus does NOT come at 3:10 to our corner, as advertised, and confirmed by a southeastern regional transit authority employee, but it seems to be on time in the morning. we can get to the library that way, and stayed there for about 2.5 hours the other week.

they have a good story hour there, with a very animated male librarian (who zoey is scared of at first, before overcoming her caution for her love of stories). we have been playing outside across the street here and there, but it's very hard to get into it, especially when i am out there in the snow, in my sneakers (my boots are lost somewhere). there has been too much dvd/netflix watching. she loves "kipperd" the dog (kipper the dog, mixed up with clifford the dog in her mind).

eric is awesome as usual, and takes over zoey duties as soon as he eats after coming home from a full day at work (where he gets to think his own thoughts! lucky bastard) when he's not sick, which he has been the last couple weeks.

speaking of, i have to go now as i've been stowed away in dad's apt. downstairs so i could get some me time.

later peeps

today

today zoey was dancing. i love it when she ballet dances with such purpose and thought. i remember doing that and thinking how cool i was to dance like a big kid.
