zonked out zoey

we went to a local zoo a few weeks ago. they have animals native to this region...except the elephants which were too "important" to let go when the zoo turned regional...anyway, we went to see toe jam puppet band, which is group of three guys who sing cool kiddo songs. zoey sat glued to my lap the whole time while i wished she'd stand up and dance like she does at home. she enjoyed herself though, by watching and taking in every bit of information she could with sight and sound.

during a mandatory distraction session (aka a diaper change) i was asking zoey who we saw at the zoo and she, as usual, named almost everyone we knew who were there. then she told me the animals we saw, and when i said "and we saw a beaver", zoey said, "sleepin' ?" and so she has begun to tell stories, mostly in two or three words, about what has happened in the past. it's really cool. i was amazed that she remembered the beaver was sleeping. just when i think she's not listening (because when i was telling her to look at the beaver because he was sleeping, she was just trying to get down and walk around). her brain is a sponge indeed.

a rare moment playing with henry as opposed to trying to keep things from him, or wondering why he is taking things from her.

zoey turned 19 months feb3rd. these picture are from january. words in "" are words she was saying when i took the pictures. she says a lot now.

zoey is our parrot. a conversation with her usually goes like this.
me, "zoey, get your coat please."
zoey, "coat?"
me, "yep, we're going out."
zoey, "out?"
me, "yep, we're going to the store to get food."
zoey, "food?"

you get the idea. most of what she says, can only be understood by me or eric. some of her favorite phrases are:
"igonna-ge-you" (i'm gonna get you...what we say when we fake chase her, which she LOVES)
"mommy ma-muh, mommy mommy mommy ma-muh?" ma-muh = mama's milk, breastmilk

the other day we were in the car and i said, "it's so chilly out!" and she said, "chilly out, buuuuh"
other favorite words include:
toy(cat toy)
jump
cute
food
moorn(more)
baby
diaper
mi-mao(minnie mouse)
ah-gin(again...one of her favorites aaaaaa!)
the names of her dolls, lulu, neenee, petunia (tuna), farful (see seinfeld episode w/annoying dog)

i'm sure there are many more...

some of her favorite activities are:
climbing onto kitchen chairs which takes MUCHO effort on her part, which often causes toots and groans, then standing on the chairs while i say, please sit down, 10million times
nursing
having us chase her and tickle her
knocking down towers that i build
coloring (on paper for 2 seconds, then on the table, then saying "no. no. no.")
playing with playdoh
walking everywhere outside of the house

she remembers things and amazes me a lot lately. it's kind of scary. she's doing okay in the sleeping department although the last two nights she woke up around 2am and stayed up for two or three hours.

she's growing into a big girl and it's sad, but fun at the same time.
