WHAT THE HECK!?!?

i had to include that last picture, which is of course blurry (if anyone is getting rid of a digital camera for free, i'll take it!) because she makes that face all the time now. it's like constant surprise. or, it changes into a permanently happy face, with wide opened mouth. so funny.

easter was fun. it wasn't as exhausting as christmas thank God and we had fun because she had fun. i ate way too much candy.

speaking of, there's way too much eating of everything by people and animals in this house. i just wrote a note thanking scott and kristin for a great little board book they gave zoey for christmas because she likes to chew on it and look at it and it keeps her busy! so then i was just on the phone a minute ago and she was babbling and chewing on the book. i stopped to get her attention because i couldn't hear the person on the phone, and realized she was truly eating the book. she drools on the book until it is turned to pulp in a little spot than eats a piece. sheesh. blayne, does makili still not put things in his mouth? you're sooooo lucky! in addition, we have a new rug that lets up lots of fuzzies. i should vacuum every day but of course i don't, and this morning she was chewing on a piece of fuzz until i pulled it out of her mouth.

levi, the fluffy gray cat has been eating his own dust bunnies since i met him in 2001. i think he's afraid of loosing his hair and is trying to somehow re-incorporate it into his system. unfortunately the fur disagrees and comes up in fur log form. VERY GROSS. ebony, the black short haired cat lends to the fuzz piles, but luckily doesn't eat any.

boogies continue flowing freely from zoey's nose. i'm pretty sure it's teething still because she shows no other signs of a cold or whatever. she doesn't spitup much, but when she does, the hands immediately go to play in it. that's lovely.

so, easter, spring, it's nice to know summer is coming eventually.

almost easter

move it legs!

sweet one

it's not what you think! (it's an organic teething biscuit)

i think of all the things i want to write in here, while i'm nursing her, or driving in the car, or falling to sleep. i forget once i sit down finally at the computer. eric is giving her a bath right now. he does that most nights and then i put the munch to sleep, if i'm lucky, then MAYBE we have a few free moments (which works out to be an hour or so actually) before we (mostly eric) make ourselves go to bed.

the munch has had a runny nose lately, most likely due to teething. i think she's getting the upper teeth. she continues, however, to be the most mellow and wonderfully behaved baby in the world. she definitely has a temper that flares once in a while, like when i am joking around with her when she really wants to get out of the high chair or something.

she is 8 months old and cannot crawl although she recently started doing the army crawl. that's what i've heard it called in books and such. when eric saw her do it (he was the first one which was cool) he said "she's crawling along the floor military style!" he didn't know it was actually called the army crawl. it was funny, to us, people who don't get out much anymore.

ACTUALLY, we were brave(?) and left the house on a whim last night at 7pm (zoey's normal bedtime) to go bowling with papa, uncle jason and cousin kohle. zoey was so excited she kicked her legs and waved her arms, while holding a perma-smile and looking at ever single thing in site with great intent. intent to walk toward no doubt, as she has taken a huge liking to holding out fingers and being walked across the floor. she takes big purposeful steps. it's hilarious and cool. she hasn't pulled herself up on anything by herself yet, except her toy bin (about 1 foot off the floor) which she gets grabs onto with super strength with both hands, while still on her belly. sometimes she tips it over.

a usual comment in out house is "sit down in the tub and play" from eric. or "no standing in the tub". i also tend to say "not for zoey" a bit right now. we've put a few electrical outlet covers in, and are thinking of table corners more. the army crawl isn't very popular yet, but she gets around by rolling and going backwards on her belly. most of the time she unintentionally gets places. i think she may be my mini me.

eric is giggling uncontrollably right now, so i must go see what fun zoey is having in the tub!

somewhere between florida and boston

zoey and i went to visit mimi (my mom) in florida for a week recently. i'm lucky that my mom misses zoey so much and will fly me to the warmth in the middle of the wait for spring up here. still, sad she doesn't live closer. we arrived to the sweet smells of spring, flowing in our window in our room. zoey didn't sleep much, but never really does, or i should say, she does, just not longer than 4 hours at a time and usually 1 to 2 hours at a time. cest la vie. it was worth the plane ride, even though i'm somewhat phobic of the giant metal beasts. we got 3 seats to ourselves on the way back too! i recommend flying air tran airways, on a tuesday midday. although, a lot of other kids were on the same plane, and i felt bad for the people having to listen to all the fussing around them. zoey didn't fuss until she fell off the seat onto the floor. yes, i admit it in front of you all, i took my hand away for a second and she plummeted head first onto the floor, i was taking a picture out of the window and turned around in horror to see her do that thing i've seen kids do when they fall where their head hits first and their body bends back over. it looks like the world is ending, to a mom. she screamed for a while. EVERYONE on the plane heard, but no one turned and gave us looks, which was very kind of them. i felt like the worst person ever and said i'm sorry about 500 times to the poor sweet unsuspecting munch. so, now i am much much more careful. she is mobile, even though she can't crawl. above is the proof that she was okay physically and mentally, thank God, shortly after letting the crying out.
and we got home, to boston, where it was almost night so we didn't have to look at the grayness of the leafless trees and dirty salt covered highway guardrails. AND we got to see eric and daddy again so that was awesome.
