the other day

the other day i kissed zoey on the nose. she immediately had an assplosion of momentous proportions. the other day i decided to see if our paper shredder shreds cds...it does not. the other day, and another and another day, zoey hurled up large amounts of what they call "spitup" once each day. i was worried. i even took her to the doctor, because it's not a drag for me to go there, she doesn't mind it yet, and i wanted to make sure she didn't have any of the 800 infections i had in my head. a lovely doctor talked to zoey the whole time and made her smile a lot, and shot me down when i asked if she was taking any new patients..."just because i don't get a good vibe with our current doctor". she said she was too old, and that we didn't want her cause she's rarely there, but that she would see her for sick visits if i wanted. it's just that zoey's current doctor seems more interested in science and medicine than in humans. she's not a sweet sweet lady. it's okay though, we won't go that much :) so nothing was diagnosed, and we were given a prescription for zantac reflux medicine. then yesterday, i realized, it's probably from tomatoes. i ate a lot of them in balsamic vinegar the night before one puke session. and had tomato sauce for the first time in a long time, the night before the others. duh. no more tomato binges for me! i'm SO glad it's not dairy that she had trouble with. whew.
by the way...
thanks to all who emailed me suggestions and peace of mind about developmental issues. don't worry about me, as i worry about everything :)
zoey is into her voice lately. some of her cries turn into yells. it's hilarious to eric and i and cuts the tension we feel with hard cries that seem to be because of super painful things. shows what we know. i've learned that we can try and do what we can to raise them right, but really they find what they need on their own anyway.
she continues to be in love with her pooh mobile, despite it falling on her face the other day.

sleeps
hey guys, what's up?
bugger
zoey is growing what they call real hair (on her head) and it's very fuzzy. at a glance it's blonde, but when you look closely especially in the light it's almost dark brown. she holds her head up very well. i'm wondering when she's going to roll over on her own because it seems it should have happened by now. i guess the developmental worrying starts here.
...i remember when i used to be funny, maybe witty, i'm just too tired now.

i try to give levi attention when i can, but he still doesn't get as much as before, especially when i was pregnant and we took a nap together every afternoon. he's a good boy though, adjusting quite well and not pooping in inappropriate places.
he doesn't ignore zoey, but he's not overly interested either. it's all good.
zoey got her shots yesterday, i'd rather not think of it ever again as it was traumatic for both of us. i feel that it's my fault she screamed louder and higher pitched than ever before. poor sweet baby. i'm glad it's over...not sure if i can go through it again in 6 weeks and many other times. there was much deliberation over whether to "immunize" her at all, starting way before she was even born. in the end we decided the pros outweighed the cons...but who knows.
she got lots of love and holding and kisses yesterday and was over the ordeal before i was.

a-larm
we were in baby depot today when the fire alarm went off. zoey was surprised and shook her head very slightly, i think trying to get the sound out of her ears. the cashier was more concerned about having a long line of people who needed to check out and preceeded to call for backup when i asked her if it was just a drill or if we should get out. no i didn't grab zoey from the stoller and run for the door. what is wrong with me?! no one looked alarmed...but the alarm didn't stop. my main conundrum was that the only way out was up two large flights of stairs, and i didn't want to leave the stoller. anyway, the manager came and said everyone needs to leave...one woman said, what should she do use the elevator? about me...yeah, not a chance. the manager and a coworker carried the front of the stroller and i the back all the way up and out. it was quite an event. zoey just kind of hung out in the stoller, not caring at all. the associate said, "he's a cutie". later (after nursing and changing zoey in the car and the firemen cleared the outlet) the cashier asked me, "hold old is he". you see, zoey was wearing a white onsie and she has a blue horse wubbanub pacifier. therefore she must be a boy! it was funny to me. we didn't get home until 7pm which is about and hour and a half over the time we usually return, in fear of a bedtime freakout session happening in the car or elsewhere. i was happy that she was happy and fine with the time and not even crying when we got home. somewhere around 8pm realized that i was the tired one, exhausted at 8pm. who needs sleep...

fragments
fall...i don't know why i wrote "fall". that was like an hour ago before zoey woke up again (she slept a lot today) then i surfed to the hello kitty website, yippee! mushbrain. now i just heard high pitched yip noises on the monitor, and the hiccups have started. poor bebe. i will go now...over and out.Thursday, September 6, 2007
today was a good day. we went to my new nanny job, which is on trial, and i may not stay at...it's hard to watch zoey and not be able to give her my full attention, plus three year olds wear me out! when am i going to learn? but it was a good day because zoey was happy, and she rode home in car (1/2 hour) wide awake and not screaming! a treat for sure.
it was a typical evening, after a day of dancing to james brown with a three year old, listening to japanese sounding guitar music while feeding zoey and wondering what the hell was going on when said three year old turned around from her midmorning snack to say, "hey, we are one." WHAT? came home, cut the poop off of levi's tail and haunches, and pumped milk out of myself. what the hell is going on lately? i feel like i'm in an episode of twin peaks sometime. now i can't keep my eyes open. so i will go to bed...after i tell you that it is hilarious to watch zoey try and get her hands into her mouth. she doesn't get frustrated with it yet, just keeps trying, and missing, and sometimes does it really quickly and whacks her self periodically in the forehead or chin. then when her fist gets to her mouth finally, she tries to eat it.
sorry the grammer makes your minds sping...i'm so very tired. ( i just did a spell check, but i think i'll leave the previous sentence as is, to illustriously illustrate my exhaustion)

everyone says it was love at first sight when they saw their kid for the first time. i knew i really really loved zoey, but i didn't really know her yet, so when people asked if i was totally in love with her, i said, "of course" and knew it to be true, but hadn't really felt that yet. love grows on me. i love her more every day. it's like the feeling when you're little, and you know you're going to the ocean when you wake up in the morning, and you're so excited to get up and start the day...multiplied by a million.
and so we continue to grow, and get lots of mysterious liquids on us. is it milk? is it spit up? is it pee? sometimes something drips on my leg and i don't know where it came from! this is hard for me, since i despise being dripped on, even by water, unless i've fully planned on getting wet and am prepared. luckily, she has eric's more mellow personality, and hopefully won't be as neurotic as i.
