what zoey

apparently she likes cloth

look, i don't want a boyfriend, i just want his toys!

before the whinings

she IS so smiley, it's true

zoey likes alvin and the chipmunks singing to her in the car. in fact she almost instantly relaxes, puts her head back and falls asleep if she is tired. i tested this theory by repeatedly changing the auditory entertainment from chimpmunks singing "japanese banana" and what i call the christmas hoola hoop song, to the radio. when the chipmunks were off, zoey was what i call whining, which is her way of communicating or just venting lately. funny, since i really always liked the chipmunks songs. unfortunately i only have two of them on a cd and they're getting old! of course, the calm quiet from the munch is totally worth it.

speaking of ears, i saw a toy in the store today that claimed it was "good for hearing". they're always trying to improve people somehow haha. i did give into the impulse buy of a tigger stuffed animal after she squealed with delight, "talked" to it, then proceeded to eat it's face. how could i resist?

super bundled sleep

i certainly believe a full moon makes a wakeful baby. or at least a wakeful zoey. it seems her teeth hurt more when there is one too. she is finally taking her morning nap, started at 12:15 after 1 and a half hours of trying to go to sleep. finally, i gave in a gave her tylenol, and let her watch some blues clues for a few minutes on tv. normally i feel like tv is going to pierce her mind the second she looks at it. perhaps i'm a little paranoid. who knows though...eric watched so much tv as a baby/toddler/teenager and he's really smart, book smart, and not prone to attention deficit disorder. i didn't watch tv when i was younger (i think sesame street and 321 contact came to our house in black and white when i was 5 or so) and i have a raving "case" of add. so who knows. anyway, i can't complain much about her demeanor as she rarely ever cries and is so cute. she has started to clap her hands. even when she's fussing, she will smile if i clap my hands and sing a song. sweet pea.

dia zoey

cousin kohle loves zoey so much. he wrote the above on the back of the christmas card he made her. it says,

dear zoey, in every way, even when you hit me i love you.

is that the sweetest thing or what?

moving along

oh boy

i didn't do it. she's scooting backwards now. yesterday she backed up like a car out of a driveway, making a right angle turn backwards toward the woofer (sp?). i wonder if she'll decide to dig her toes in soon so she goes forward instead. she really wants to be able to sit herself up again from lying down too. she's working hard folks.

i recently realized, while zoey pinched my upper arm with great force when i was feeding her, that her zodiac sign is cancer; the animal, a crab, i think. i've never known a crab to consistently throw left/right hooks at a woman's breast before though. that's where she differs from her sign animal. i was thinking of this while feeding the munch tonight, and it sounded a lot more eloquent in my head. she has developed a relationship with the boob, as noted in the title. aside from punching it, and squishing it with her sweet chubby hands, she romances it, talking sweetly before eating. i think she knows each better than i do.

what kohle? what?

nice booty

i forgot to mention that on christmas eve, cousin kohle had scarlet fever. yes, scarlet fever. we didn't believe it was an illness of this day in age either...but apparently it happens when strep throat interacts in a certain way with someones immune system. zoey had a runny nose, has had one since christmas, so we were worried, but thank God none of us got it. kohle was fine after taking antibiotics and benadryl.

new years crept up our behinds quickly and we had planned on staying in for the evening as eric worked all day and zoey was still recovering from totally messed up sleep christmas eve and day...but since i stayed in the house for two days straight, and since zoey took two actual naps for longer than half and hour on that day, we headed to aunty beth's for a short appearance at her annual party. we were going to leave by 8pm but zoey miraculously fell asleep and stayed asleep until 11:45pm when she woke up to watch the ball drop while sitting on cousin kohle's lap. it was nice. we were exhausted. i don't know how we got home...eric drove.

in other news: teeth rule our world. naps are almost non-existant, and she's started refusing the bottle. this sucks as i was just about to start working on my webpage portfolio (for real) a few nights a week while eric acted as bedtime warden. currently she is nursed to sleep, for naps and nighttime. she likes to wake up about 3 times between 7 and 10pm and then goes to bed when we do. she also likes to wake up once more about 1 hour after i fall asleep sometimes. aren't 6 month olds supposed to sleep through the night? hehe. whatever. that's life, i'm used to being tired constantly, but right now my shoulder and neck feel like they're in a vice grip so that's fun.

oh, and she's eating baby food from a jar...pears.
